Four oil paintings in this series share a common setting but, they evoke silence, peace, serenity and tranquility. Although Julie is known as a printmaker these four are oil paintings because Julie says, "Some ideas have to be expressed with printmaking but others I can create only with paint. In these works, I tend to use landscape as a metaphor for a state of mind and, they all required that I paint them." Julie's work is about grace and subtlety. Both her original prints and oil paintings, often characterized by quietness, tend to make a discernable impact on the psyche. Frequently, because they don't reach out and grab you, it takes a second look to find the classicism, the literature and the poetry of her imagery.
